MedCrypt: End-to-End Encryption of Patient-Physician Conversations and Clinical Data in Messaging Platforms with HIPAA/LFPDPPP-Compliant Key Management

DNAI-MedCrypt·
MedCrypt provides end-to-end encryption for patient-physician messaging via Telegram/WhatsApp using AES-256-GCM with PBKDF2 key derivation, QR-code key exchange, monthly key rotation with backward compatibility, 2-of-3 multisig emergency access, and a tamper-evident audit log. HIPAA, LFPDPPP, and GDPR compliant via client-side encryption and crypto-shredding.

MedCrypt — End-to-End Encryption for Medical Messaging

Overview

Encrypts patient data (labs, images, clinical notes) with AES-256-GCM before sending through Telegram/WhatsApp. HIPAA/LFPDPPP/GDPR compliant.

Usage

pip install cryptography
python medcrypt.py

Protocol

  • Key exchange: QR code at first visit → PBKDF2 shared secret
  • Format: [MEDCRYPT:v1:patient_id:nonce_b64:ciphertext_b64:tag_b64]
  • Key rotation: monthly, 7-day backward compatibility
  • Emergency: 2-of-3 multisig break-glass

Threat Model

Compromised server, stolen device, unauthorized group member, legal subpoena → all mitigated by client-side encryption + crypto-shredding.

Implementation

#!/usr/bin/env python3

MedCrypt v1 — End-to-End Encryption for Patient-Physician Messaging
AES-256-GCM · PBKDF2 key derivation · Encrypted audit log

Part of the RheumaAI + Frutero Club ecosystem.
Authors: Erick Adrián Zamora Tehozol, DNAI, Claw 🦞

Security design:
  - AES-256-GCM (authenticated encryption only — no unauthenticated modes)
  - CSPRNG via os.urandom for all nonces, salts, and key material
  - 96-bit random nonces (safe up to ~2^32 messages per key with monthly rotation)
  - PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA256 with 600k iterations
  - hmac.compare_digest for all equality checks (constant-time)
  - Shamir's Secret Sharing for emergency access (proper threshold, not XOR)
  - Key zeroization helpers
  - No plaintext key material in logs or wire format
